Lindsay & Kelly – Engaged

It was after 11pm on the Easter Long Weekend.  My ringer was off, so it wouldn’t wake the boys, but I could hear the quiet vibration as my iPhone started to ring. The call display showed that it was Linds, … Continue reading

Happy Birthday Unk!

It’s my brother’s birthday today. He’s the best brother I could ever ask for, and the best Unk to his nephews.

iheartfaces – Orange

The contest theme for this week is Orange. Which is perfect timing since I just managed to finish up on my client sessions and spend some time editing our family Halloween pictures. One of our annual traditions, is a trip to the Pumpkin Patch at Galey Farms. We’ve been going since Tadpole’s first Halloween, and this was the first year that he’s actually really enjoyed himself. Unk and Winnie came with us, and we all had a great time. Part of the contest rules state that we’re only allowed to enter one photo, so Mister helped me choose this one.

If you’re interested in seeing more from our visit to the patch, check back tomorrow.

Happy Birthday…

I can hardly believe that my baby bro is THIRTY today. What does that make me? Never mind!
Here’s a quick image from skating with Tadpole on Sunday… these two have so much fun together – I love that they share such a great relationship.

Happy Birthday Unk. We love you :)

Flashback Friday – Christmas Morning 2008

It’s magic for so many reasons.  I can’t explain enough, just how much I love Christmastime… and then we added a Tadpole to the mix and it got even better!  Here’s our 1st Christmas morning as a happy little family…

Tadpole has to be doing the same thing as his Daddy…

Ah… the kleenex… Tadpole loves his kleenex…

And last but not least, Tadpole getting his first pair of skates from his Unk…

Last weekend, Mister and I met up with Unk and Winnie and we all took Tadpole out skating for the 2nd time.  At less than 23 mo’s old, I just can’t get over how much he LOVES to go to the arena and go skating!  He’s improved so much in just two outings… his little ankles are already strong enough to support all of his running around the arena lobby in his adorable baby skates.

At this rate, it won’t be long before he’s zipping around the ice with little or no help from his Daddy and his Unk – which I know they’re excited for… their poor back’s aren’t as young as they used to be :)

Xmas Tree Hunt, 2009

On the 3rd Sunday in November, we trouped up to Grumpy & Granny’s for breakfast, and our annual Xmas tree hunt.  The weather had been horrible since returning from Mexico, but it held out the entire time we were up island.  Tadpole was a bit unsure at first, wandering around through all of the trees, but he liked it soon enough, despite falling down more times than I care to count… but I guess that’s bound to happen when your gum boots come up past your little knees.

I didn’t have my camera with me, so these are courtesy of Grumpy and Granny…

At the park

I figure it’s about time I do a little catch-up blogging…  A few months ago, Tadpole had some playtime at the park with his Unk and Winnie.  He loves playing outside… and I love being able to catch memories like these:

Flashback Friday – The Bib

When I was carrying “Slapshot”, our families were all very excited.  But I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that Unk was probably most excited.  He’s always been great with kids and we were excited to be able to give him a little Nephew or Niece.

On Christmas morning in 2007, Slapshot left a present under the tree for Unk.  It was a bib for baby to wear when s/he was out and Unk was babysitting.

I took this picture a few months later.  I think the look on Unk’s face says it all…

…And a little while later, he started dating Winnie… seems to me, the bib worked :)

This post is going to be epic, so I hope you’re sitting down…

Unk bought Tadpole his first pair of skates when he was less than a year old… and his first helmet for his 1st birthday. But it took us until Thanksgiving weekend to actually get him out on the ice. Boy, was it ever worth the wait!!

Mister and I packed Tadpole into Betty, and drove to the Oak Bay Rec centre to meet Unk and Winnie. We all laced up our skates and took to the ice. None of us were sure how Tadpole would do, or how long he’d last – and I think it’s safe to say that he surprised us all! He went strong for an hour and a half. And it’s all he’s talked about since we left.
Mister and Unk were pretty sore the next day, and when I talked to Winnie she said that her face hurt from smiling so much!

Tadpole LOVED his first skating trip, and we’ve got high hopes that if we can find enough time to get him out practicing, he’ll be close to skating on his own by the end of the season.
