Three weeks in, and I’m still hanging on!
I WILL complete an ENTIRE month of #fmsphotoaday prompts (via Fat Mum Slim)!
Now the question remains: challenge myself to another month? Or try a different set of lists? Maybe Clickin Moms #cmglimpse? Hmmm… Decisions, Decisions.
Oh Miss Amelia… what can I tell you about this little doll? I had the pleasure of meeting her when she was 8 days young. She was so excited to be my latest model, that she wanted nothing to do with going to sleep for her session.
This lucky girlie not only has awesome parents, but she also has a doting big sister & brother, AND a bunch of extended family who are all over the moon! Two of her grandparents, and her big sis, were around for most of her newborn session. So really, why sleep when you can socialize!? (Did I mention that her sis & bro were in the delivery room when she was born, and her Glamma got to watch her birth via Facetime? How super-cool is that!?)
We did manage to get some images where she LOOKS like she’s sleeping peacefully, but she spent almost 4 hours wide awake. That being said, she still knocked it outta the park, if you ask me. I’m in love with her red hair and perfect little cupids-bow lips. Such a sweet little Millie!
I met a sweet wee man last week, and I’m working my way through his session right now. His adorable smooshy sleepy lips reminded me of this Duder, who ALSO happens to have adorable smooshy sleepy lips! What is it about baby lips (and lashes) that are just so darn cute!? I just can’t get enough.
This wee babe is Mr. Mason. Isn’t he stinkin’ adorable?! He was my first preemie… and he had me wrapped around his little finger, right from the get-go!
We met on a quiet, snowy Sunday afternoon, in his warm and cozy home. He tried to fight sleep for a little while, but his awesome big brother is a bit of a baby-whisperer, and his Mom and I had some tricks up our sleeves (clothes dryer, hair dryer, beanbag chair, a full tummy!), so it wasn’t long before he drifted right off to la-la Land.
Seriously… I can’t get enough of staring at this little Duder!
I’m really happy with the way my newest business cards turned out! So clean & simple. And it doesn’t get much better than a beautiful sleeping babe! (I posted this on other social media quite some time ago, and of … Continue reading →
Last Easter Sunday, my sweet baby niece got to leave the hospital, and the bunny delivered her to her home. What a perfect way to celebrate the holiday!
She wasn’t quite ready for her newborn portraits yet, but with an Auntie who loves photography as much as I do, there wasn’t a chance that her homecoming would go undocumented! Mister and I packed up the boys, and drove over to greet our Little Bee.
I just love these images… they really show just how smitten the Duders are with their baby cousin.
(I have a number of Braylie, by herself, in her Easter basket… but I’m going to save those for another post.)
Sometimes, when you meet someone for the first time, you just KNOW that they’re going to be in your life for years to come.
That’s kind of how it went when I first met Mandy. We were sitting in a Victoria-area Starbucks, discussing her upcoming wedding, while her super-cute little Duder sat in his stroller and entertained us.
Mister helped me pack all of my gear into a hockey bag, and I made my way to the happy of home of wee Jude and his family. His big brother, Angus, was more than happy to introduce me, and he participated in some portraits with a huge grin on his face. I’m sure he’s unhappy SOMETIMES – but when I see Angus, he’s usually got a huge smile on his face. I just love it! I took some of my favorite props with me, but Mandy made a hat, diaper cover, and quilt for her little bundle, and I was excited to use them in some of the portraits too! I’m always thrilled to incorporate things that are special to the family.
Early on a Sunday morning, when Dek’s on the ice and E is content to sit quietly beside me, I usually get the urge to pull out my iPhone camera. Such was the case on this occasion, when I photographed the seats in front of us at the rink
I like to do newborn sessions in my clients homes. I find that it’s easier on the new parents (and siblings), if they don’t have to leave their comfort zone, or even get out of their pajammies, if they don’t want to. I troop in all of my blankets and gear, often looking like I’m planning on staying for a week! My last client joked that he thought I was moving in :)
As long as there’s a window with ample light, I can shoot in some pretty tight spaces. I’ve been known to be found sitting on the floor holed up in a spare back-bedroom, behind a couch beside a sliding door, in the dining room, and even tucked in a corner beside the TV console. Makes no difference to me… as long as bebe is comfy, I can work just fine!
This perfect little boy belongs to some very good friends of ours. Their daughter was born just a few weeks before E, and now they’ve added a son to the mix. I had the pleasure of spending some time with them at their home, about a week after he arrived. We started off with some portraits of him and his big sister, then she moved on to have a snack and play princess, while I worked on Kade’s solo photos. He slept his way through the session like a champ.
(The little gallery below includes three of my favorite props, that I bring with me to each session.)
