iheartfaces – Week 2: "Best Face Photo"

It’s week two of heart faces 2nd year as a photography community!  They’re still busy celebrating their 1st birthday so this week’s contest theme is “Best Face Photo”.  The rules this week were a lot simpler than last week with the main stipulation being that we had to use a photo from this month or last.  I’ve been challenging myself to use my camera every day, if possible, so this rule was a great push for me.  And the fact that there are 18 guest judges this week (including some of my Faves: [b]ecker, Pioneer Woman, Amy Wenzel and the Ellsworth’s) made it that much more exciting!
This afternoon it finally decided to stop raining, so Mister and I took Tadpole to the park for a few hours.  He loves the park, not only for the running around, but for the quality time with his Daddy.  I took quite a few pictures while we were out, but this one is by far my favorite (I added a little bit of texture to it too, just to give it a bit of a different look/feel).  Our Tadpole is such a happy little 2yr old!

Head over to heart faces to see the rest of this weeks entries – and say Happy 1st Birthday!

Happy Anniversary…

… Mister! Can you believe it’s been 4 years already? I love you.

…and Happy FIRST Anniversary to our friends, the Palamarek’s! I couldn’t be happier to share such a fun date with you guys.  Up next… babies!  Hooray!

Flashback Friday – Christmas Morning 2008

It’s magic for so many reasons.  I can’t explain enough, just how much I love Christmastime… and then we added a Tadpole to the mix and it got even better!  Here’s our 1st Christmas morning as a happy little family…

Tadpole has to be doing the same thing as his Daddy…

Ah… the kleenex… Tadpole loves his kleenex…

And last but not least, Tadpole getting his first pair of skates from his Unk…

Daddy’s Boy

Oh man… why on earth has it taken me so long to get to these?  Earlier on in the summer, Mister and I took Tadpole to the park to play… he had so much fun with his Daddy.

Skating

Last weekend, Mister and I met up with Unk and Winnie and we all took Tadpole out skating for the 2nd time.  At less than 23 mo’s old, I just can’t get over how much he LOVES to go to the arena and go skating!  He’s improved so much in just two outings… his little ankles are already strong enough to support all of his running around the arena lobby in his adorable baby skates.

At this rate, it won’t be long before he’s zipping around the ice with little or no help from his Daddy and his Unk – which I know they’re excited for… their poor back’s aren’t as young as they used to be :)

Xmas Tree Hunt, 2009

On the 3rd Sunday in November, we trouped up to Grumpy & Granny’s for breakfast, and our annual Xmas tree hunt.  The weather had been horrible since returning from Mexico, but it held out the entire time we were up island.  Tadpole was a bit unsure at first, wandering around through all of the trees, but he liked it soon enough, despite falling down more times than I care to count… but I guess that’s bound to happen when your gum boots come up past your little knees.

I didn’t have my camera with me, so these are courtesy of Grumpy and Granny…

Skating!!

This post is going to be epic, so I hope you’re sitting down…

Unk bought Tadpole his first pair of skates when he was less than a year old… and his first helmet for his 1st birthday. But it took us until Thanksgiving weekend to actually get him out on the ice. Boy, was it ever worth the wait!!

Mister and I packed Tadpole into Betty, and drove to the Oak Bay Rec centre to meet Unk and Winnie. We all laced up our skates and took to the ice. None of us were sure how Tadpole would do, or how long he’d last – and I think it’s safe to say that he surprised us all! He went strong for an hour and a half. And it’s all he’s talked about since we left.
Mister and Unk were pretty sore the next day, and when I talked to Winnie she said that her face hurt from smiling so much!

Tadpole LOVED his first skating trip, and we’ve got high hopes that if we can find enough time to get him out practicing, he’ll be close to skating on his own by the end of the season.

iheartfaces – Week 29

My Story in Photos: My Favorite Things

It’s Angie & Amy’s week off, so instead of a contest at ifaces, we’re sharing our story in photos again.  This week, it’s “My favorite Things”.  Everytime I see or hear that, I get the Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies cover of the Sound of Music song stuck in my head.

Anyhoo… I have so many favorite things.  I had to pare down my list a little bit so that I could come up with a reasonable amount of photos to post.

And here we go:

My Mister…

My Tadpole – being a boy…
The two material posessions that mean the most to me…
My collection of Henry Rollins books.  I love to read, and I have more books than I can even count… but these are some of my favorites.  Henry Rollins is my hero…
It just doesn’t get any better than BC wines… Hillside Estates Pinot Gris is my favorite white, and Elephant Island Black Currant is my favorite red…
“Apple”… my Mac Book pro (named by the Tadpole)…

Red Tulips!…

Rainbows…

Tadpole and his Unk.  They have such a great relationship.  Unk and I have a great one with our Aunty, so it means the world to me that Tadple gets to have the same with my bro…

And last but not least – 4 favorite things in one photo… Mister, Tadpole, and smiles at the hockey rink. *sigh* I love my life…
For a great chance to get to know everyone else a little better, check out ifaces and see everyone else’s favorite things.

Awkward Family Photo

If you haven’t seen this website before, do yourself a favor and check it out.  It’s hysterical!  For a few months now, Unk’s better-half (who we’ll call Winnie, for the purposes of this blog) and I have been giggling about it on an almost daily basis!  We really wanted to submit our own awkward family photo to share with the world.

Then, shortly after they bought their new house, Ma’am and Papa took us all to dinner at Jack’s Place on Bear Mtn – and at the same place that I caught this of Tadpole giving the bear a hug, Winnie and I decided it was time to take our awkward family photo.

Mister and Unk were our more than willing subjects – as always… but it didn’t work out exactly as planned because they had such a hard time keeping a straight face!  In any case, here’s what we ended up with.  Enjoy!

And just because it’s so darn cute and I can’t resist (even though I just posted it last week), here’s Tadpole giving the bear a hug…
