Elf on the Shelf, Year 5

Ah, the long-forgotten old blog.  There’s no time like the present to dust it off for some Elf on the Shelf fun and antics!
With December right around the corner, my boys are impatiently awaiting the annual arrival of Ruettiger, our Elf on the Shelf.
I recently realized that I didn’t blog ANY of his photos from last year!   I figure that before he arrives for his SIXTH Christmas with us, I should share what he got up to last year.

Here goes nothing…

Throwback Thursday – Christmas portraits

You might be thinking that it’s silly for me to be thinking of Christmas in July. And you might be right. But here’s the thing… I don’t care! I love Christmas. Even in July! I’ve already started working on the Duders wish lists with them, and I’ve already started my shopping.
This year is going to be even better than last year. The boys are both at such great ages to really revel in the magic of the holiday. And hopefully, this year, they’re at great ages to cooperate for portraits! TOGETHER. Last year was a bust. The year before was a bust… you get the idea. They’re both pretty good at individual portraits, but trying to get them together is a challenge, to say the least.
Today’s flash back is to a couple of my favorite individual Christmas portraits: Deklan’s is from 2010, and Easton’s is from 2011.

Granny & Grumpy’s Grandkids

Since the day the youngest was born, Grumpy has been saying that he wants a portrait of all of the grandkids together.  So naturally, we all got together, behind Granny & Grumpy’s backs, and made some portraits for them as a Christmas surprise.

It was easier said than done, that’s for sure. Deklan, Easton, Sophie & Braylie all decided to cooperate (or not cooperate) at different times. It took a whole lot of tries, and a WHOLE LOT of patience… but we succeeded.  Hooray!

Here they are, in all their cuteness: Grumpy & Granny’s Grandkids, 2013.

Merry Christmas! 2013

It’s my niece, Braylie’s, first Christmas this year, and I did her first Christmas portraits a little while ago. I just had to get some of her with her cousins.  My Duders love their baby cousin, and I love watching them all interact, it’s just so cute.

From my family (and extended family) to yours… Merry Christmas blogland!!

Elf on the Shelf – Year 3, Day 24

Once again, the month of December has gone by in the blink of an eye.
Today we say so long to our little holiday elf, until next year.
Like usual, he left the boys a goodbye letter…

Elf on the Shelf – Year 3, Day 23

It took the Duders a little longer than usual to find Ruettiger this morning. He was in the bar, chilling on the mic stand, all posed and ready for some Christmas Carols!

This got me thinking that maybe I should share some of the Dey Family’s favourite Christmas songs this year.  I hope you like them as much as we do (and I hope this link works!)

Elf on the Shelf – Year 3, Day 22

It was only a matter of time before Creepy Ronald got in on the action again.  There are only a few more days to make mischief with his new friend. He has to make the most of it before Ruettiger flies home to the North Pole until next December!
Last night, they decided to wear beards and pretend to be Santa Claus! Ho Ho Ho!

Elf on the Shelf – Year 3, Day 21

Rudy got ahold of a dry erase marker and had some fun with the photos of the boys that are hanging in the bathroom. Neither of them seemed all that impressed that they had been defaced – but at least they were amused just the same.

Elf on the Shelf – Year 3, Day 20

I think it’s a good thing that we finished up our holiday puzzle a few days ago, because this morning we found Ruettiger right smack-dab in the middle of it! I’m sure he thought he was helping, but all he was really doing was making a mess. Silly Rudy.

Elf on the Shelf – Year 3, Day 19

Ruettiger loved the little teeny-tiny stockings that we got from Auntie Linds last weekend, so he chose one and decided to chill out inside it for the day.
