Deklan’s 6yr portraits

My Duders both know that there are a few times a year when Mummy takes their portraits… whether they like it or not! And their birthday’s is one of those times.  Deklan didn’t want his photo taken on his birthday this year, and he did get a bit of a reprieve.  It was dark when we left the house for daycare/school/work on his birthday morning, and it was dark when we got home. The weekend immediately following, it was dark and rainy the entire time – and we spent a good chunk of time in the rink for hockey.
But a weekend off hockey soon followed, and it coordinated with some decent weather. PERFECT – In my mind at least. Dek wasn’t super impressed.  Luckily for me, he’s a good boy, and it doesn’t take much time to get him on board.
Happy (belated) sixth birthday to my big Tadpole!

Deklan is SIX!

My oldest Duder turned SIX years old today. SIX. Wow.
Oh my baby boy… My baby boy who I’m not allowed to call a baby any more because “Mummy… that’s an embarrassing nickname!”
He still knows how to melt my heart and wrap me around his little finger. He still beats me at lightsabering, even though I kick his butt at Nerf wars. We still read and snuggle together every night. And he still lets me hug & smooch him. *sigh* I’m enjoying ALL of it while it lasts. Before I know it, he’ll be a teenager!
We usually do a quick birthday portrait session, but it was dark before work/school, and it was dark when we got home, so it’s going to have to wait until the weekend. But that didn’t mean that I could let the day go by without at least a few quick photos of him and the chocolate cupcake that he specifically requested.
Happy 6th Birthday Deklan!

Easton is Three!

I know that all parents say this, but seriously, where does the time go!?

Today was Easton’s third birthday. And as strange as it is to say, he hasn’t really changed all that much in his three years of life.  Sure, he’s grown up, and learned new things… but he’s still the same serious, sometimes goofy, loving and LOVEABLE little Duder he was when he was born.

Here are some things that you may or may not know about the birthdey boy:
His favourite colour is orange.
For his birthday this year, he asked for an orange hot rod, a Ninja Turtle, and a spoon.
His hero is “Super Hero Deklan”!
When he grows up, he wants to be “Big”!
His favourite sport is football.
His favourite food is “Kraft roni’s”.
If he had one wish, it would be for “3 dollars”.

Happy Birthday my Littlest Duder!! Mummy loves you SEVENTEEN!

Worm is TWO!

Two years ago, I was awakened at 4am by labour pains.  Realizing that it was July 7th, exactly 2.5yrs after Deklan’s birthday, I was determined to birth that baby within the next 20hrs.
At about 10:00am we dropped Deklan off at daycare and headed to the hospital for the long road ahead.  Just under 12hrs later, at 8:57pm, Easton Henry Raine was welcomed into the world with open arms, and tears of joy.

And now, here we are… In the blink of an eye, it’s two years later.

Easton’s day started off with all three of us barrelling into his room to wish him a Happy Birthday.
He was bleary eyed and surprised/confused, but he smiled his little smirky-smile nonetheless.

When asked what he wanted for breakfast, the answer came quickly: Pancakes.
Mister got out the Aunt Jemima (because who needs scratch when these taste good and are so quick/easy!) and let E help him make breakfast. He was pretty excited to be big-boy enough to participate.

After a quick visit from Grumpy & Granny, we headed out to buy the birthday boy his gift: his very own set of golf clubs. From Golf Town. Much like his Daddy & his big brother, Easton asks to go to Golf Town every single weekend.  I’m totally outnumbered!
When it came time for lunch, Easton showed no hesitation in requesting pretzels.  In order to make it just a BIT more healthy, we added a side of Booster Juice.

We arrived home and took to the back yard for some fun in the sun.  And I did my darndest to get a portrait of the birthday boy.
Have I mentioned lately that we’re starting the Terrible Two’s?

Ma’am and Papa arrived for a quick visit, and then it was nap time.
Easton seemed much happier after his nap, so we went back outside and attempted portraits one more time.  With always dutiful assistance from Mister, we finally succeeded!

After a Happy Meal for dinner, Grandma & Grandpa arrived and so did Aunty & Uncle.
We all sang Happy Birthday, and watched Easton blow out the two candles on his Cookie Monster cupcake.

It feels like just yesterday that Deklan turned two.
So the fact that Easton is not just one, but TWO… it’s almost unbelievable to me.

Happy Birthday baby boy!  Mummy loves you, even when you’re Terrible!

Happy Birthdey Grumpy!!

As a I kid, I used to think it was SO COOL that my Daddy’s birthday sometimes happened on Friday the 13th.  I can’t recall anything ever happening on any Friday the 13th, but the stigma of the date had … Continue reading

The Big Brother

As with most events in our lives, Deklan steals the show.  He’s exciteable and funny, and he loves to perform. His little brother’s first birthday was no exception.  While he didn’t have a problem taking a bit of a back-seat … Continue reading

Worm is ONE!

I’ve been meaning to write this post since my baby’s birthday, but maybe it’s the denial (that he really is growing up, and that I have to go back to my day job in mere weeks) that’s kept me from … Continue reading
