Every year since Deklan was born, I’ve made sure to do Christmas portraits of my boy(s) and this year was no different.
On a sunny (but chilly) day in November, I dressed them up and crossed my fingers for some semblance of cooperation.
It should be stated from the start too, that portraits of my boys would NOT be possible without the dutiful assistance of my husband. He’s a Daddy and gear-lugger extraordinaire!
Because the weather was so crisp, I thought maybe we’d try for some indoor portraits this year. But seeing as how I don’t have a photography studio (nor the space for one) at home, we had to improvise in which ever room had the best light at the time. We ended up in Deklan’s bedroom. Easton was none-to-impressed to be sitting still, but at least I managed to get a few good frames. Dek, on the other hand, is just too hyper to hang in there for longer than a split second. To appease him, we went outside during Easton’s morning nap and shot a few of him in the backyard.
Then, after lunch, across the street we went, to the gravel pit.
All I wanted was one, just ONE portrait of the boys together. Looking adorable. What I ended up with isn’t exactly what I’d seen in my minds eye, but it’s sooooo THEM. And I love it so much. It’s the cover of our family Christmas card and it makes me smile every single time I look at it.
