iheartfaces – Hearts
Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, so “hearts” is the theme at iheartfaces this week. Perfect excuse to try and convince my Duders for an impromptu mini-session. And of course, it wouldn’t be complete without a little bribery ;)
I have a nice smiling one of Dek, but this outtake does a much better job at displaying his personality.

Jones Soda
A few months ago, after designing some “My Jones” soda bottles for my brother and future sister-in-law, I thought it might be fun to add some of my photos to the Jones Soda gallery, in hopes of maybe being lucky enough to have a label printed that featured my work.
I didn’t have high hopes, as the Jones gallery currently holds over 1,270,000 images. But, I went for it anyways. I uploaded about a dozen images, and tried not to think about it…. until I got an e-mail, saying that one of my images had been chosen as a “staff pick”. The website says that a staff pick is the first step towards being chosen for an actual label. I was thrilled! So you can imagine my excitement when in the next little while, I received 4 more staff picks!!
Fast Forward to yesterday. At least a few months after having made my submissions. I got an e-mail saying that one of my photos had been chosen for a label run!! And then I got another email, and another, and ANOTHER!!
How is it possible that not one, but FOUR of my images are all being printed in the latest label run!? I’m BEYOND excited about this news. (And for those of you wondering, there were 72 images chosen for this run)
So, in order to take my bragging just a little bit further, here are the four images that were chosen:
Keep an eye on those store shelves in the coming weeks/months (I’m not exactly sure how long it even takes for these new bottles to hit the stores). Clockwise, from the top left, it’ll be Easton’s 1st birthday on Cream Soda (my favorite!), Deklan’s Mexican wrestling mask on Root Beer, My Hipster boys on Cream Soda, and Deklan’s cookie face on Blue Bubble Gum.
I know I’ll be scouring everywhere I can to make sure that I’m able to get my hands on at least a bottle of each!
iheartfaces – Water
Here in Victoria, we’ve been waiting (rather impatiently) for summer. And this weekend, it finally arrived! My boys could not have been happier to be outside, playing in the yard.
Perfect timing for this weeks iheartfaces “Water” theme… What could be more fun than a slip & slide!?
iheartfaces – Props
I’ve been on a bit of a blogging hiatus.
Life has been busy, and as always, my family takes priority.
Between wedding season, my last few weeks at home with my boys before returning to my day-job, my baby boy’s first birthday, and summer in general, there just never seems to be enough hours in the day.
That being said… I’m ready to jump back into blogging just in time for this weeks iheartfaces contest.
The theme this week is “Props”. While my props might not be the most traditional, I think they have to count.
I wasn’t a very strong photographer when my Tadpole turned one, so I knew that I really wanted to knock it out of the park with the Worm’s 1st birthday portrait.
We didn’t have a big party, but we had family over for Ooh La La “Cookie Monster” cupcakes (and they were sooooo good!). My Worm made such a mess – exactly the opposite to his big brother on his 1st birthday.
I couldn’t have been much happier with this portrait… the birthday boy, cupcake mess, balloons, a birthday hat… and a SMIRK!!
iheartfaces – iheartTULIPS!
No faces this week… it’s a floral photo challenge instead.
What better way to add some sunshine to this gloomy May day, than with some TULIPS! My favorite :)
Our new house doesn’t have much in the way of tulips, but it sure will next year! In any case, I made sure to get some photos of the tulips at our old house so that I wouldn’t have to deal with withdrawl.
PS – Hoping to get back into the swing of blogging now that we’ve moved in. It’ll take ages to get settled, I’m sure, but at least we’re IN.
iheartfaces – Pets
We’re not yet prepared to add a pet to our little Dey family, but I knew exactly which pet I wanted to enter in this weeks contest! Meet (or become reacquainted with) Max. He belongs to the new Mr. & Mrs. Root! We met at their engagement session at IslandView beach, and that’s where/when I took this photo.
iheartfaces – Shadows
This weeks contest theme is “Shadows”.
I’m guessing there could be a lot of different interpretations of this theme, and here’s mine…
This is a portrait of the Tadpole from a few summers ago. He’s wearing a hat, as usual, and I love the way that the brim casts a shadow across half of his face.
iheartfaces – Best March Face
Our house has been riddled with germs for the last few weeks. Add to that a teething Worm, a bored Tadpole, and Mister & I attempting to pack/prep for our move next month, and things have been mighty slow on the photography front. Which is sad, because it’s the one thing in my life that I swore I would never let fall by the wayside.
Most of the photography that’s been taking place, has been in the form of quick little shoots of the boys, indoors. We bought the Worm an amber teething necklace (from Lellow), and while he’s still a VERY serious little man, he doesn’t seem to be in quite as much discomfort. He looks so cute wearing it, so I had to take some bath-time photos…
