iheartfaces – Oh So Silly

“Oh so Silly” is the theme at iheartfaces this week.
My little brother is the silliest person I know, and this engagement portrait of him and his wife is one of my favourite “Silly” photos.
The two of them got married in Las Vegas in October, and they wanted something a little different, and something that reflected their personalities, for their wedding invitations.  This is what we ended up with, and I love it. And I love them!  Popped collar, sideburns, Elvis glasses, and that sneer – perfection.

Kristine & Keegan ~ Engaged

I admit, I was very intrigued when I saw an e-mail in my inbox from Kristy, asking if I had plans on the weekend of June 18th.  I did, indeed have plans, but she’d piqued my curiosity, so I told her as much.

They’re planning a fun Vegas destination wedding in November, but after being engaged for a year, they decided it was time for some Engagement portraits before their big day. The two of them hopped on a WestJet flight, and headed all the way out here from Alberta for the weekend, just so I could take their portraits.  I couldn’t have been more honored or excited!

Kristine & Keegan are so super sweet together.
They’ve been together since highschool so they’re beyond comfortable with each other.
I think they always knew that they were meant-to-be, and last year, Keegan made it official, by asking Kristy to be his wife.
She, of course, said YES, and the rest is history.

Kristy claims to feel “dead awkward” in front of the camera, but luckily for me, she didn’t come across that way at all. And hopefully after having been in front of my camera, she’ll feel less weird on her wedding day at the fabulous Wynn Hotel & Casino.

Being from the prairies, they wanted something a bit different, and asked to do their session near the water.
We started out at the Esquimalt Lagoon, and then headed just up the street to the Coast Collective.

Lindsay & Kelly – Engaged

It was after 11pm on the Easter Long Weekend.  My ringer was off, so it wouldn’t wake the boys, but I could hear the quiet vibration as my iPhone started to ring.
The call display showed that it was Linds, and I knew what she was going to say before I even picked up the phone.
“Hi. Can you guess why I’m calling?”

I’m getting a new SISTER!!!!

When my brother introduced Lindsay to us, we loved her.  And he was told in no uncertain terms that he’d better not screw up :)

And now, the Las Vegas destination wedding planning is in full swing, but we took some time out last weekend for some engagement portraits at Saxe Point.

Kelly (“Davy”) and Linds – I love you guys, and I can’t WAIT until your wedding in October.
Between the new dresses and hot shoes for the girls, and styling new suits for the guys… we’re going to be one well dressed Vegas crowd!

You can see more of their portraits in the Facebook album.

iheartfaces – Best January Face

Amy and Angie are taking a week off, so it’s time for another People’s Choice.
This week, our challenge is to enter our best face photo – but the catch is that it had to be taken some time this month.

With Tadpole’s 3rd birthday this month, and Worm’s 1/2 birthday, I had some great ones to choose from, but I ultimately decided to enter my favorite one from Danielle & Chris’s engagement session.

It just oozes love and contentment, doesn’t it?

Danielle & Chris – Engaged

On a cloudy Saturday afternoon, we met at Island View beach – the very place where Chris proposed to Danielle.  The happy couple wanted some portraits to celebrate their engagement, before heading off to sunny Palm Springs for their destination wedding this coming March.
They brought along their adorable dog, Max, for some of the photos, and he behaved very well.  It’s amazing what a few puppy treats can do.

During our initial consultation, Danielle mentioned that she really liked the look of train tracks, so when we were finished at the beach, after a quick stop at Starbucks, we headed out to Esquimalt to finish off our session at the Roundhouse.

Danielle & Chris – CONGRATULATIONS again!  I hope you have a phenomenal wedding day!

On to the portraits…
